Hum Saath Saath Hain Full Movie Reviews:
Hum Saath Saath Hain has Rajshri stamp all over it. It is a musical family entertainer with the message of staying together in a joint family is eternal bliss. Ramkishen (Alok Nath), a successful industrialist who is happily married to Mamta (Reema Lagoo) has three sons Vivek (Mohnish Bahl), Prem (Salman Khan), Vinod (Saif Ali Khan) and one daughter Sangeeta (Neelam).
All the siblings have been brought up with traditional values of a Rajasthani family. The eldest brother Vivek is a down to earth person, Prem is a shy person and also studious, the youngest Vinod is very mischievous. Sangeeta is married to Anand and they have a sweet little daughter.
Vivek, Prem, Sangeeta and Vinod, share close bondings with each other. Vivek marries Sadhana (Tabu), Prem gets engaged to Preeti (Sonali Bendre) and Vinod falls in love with Sapna (Karisma Kapoor).
Ramkishenji's dream is to have all his sons and daughter-in-laws stay together, sharing with each other life's joys and sorrows. However, the so-called "well-wishers" of the family keep talking about how families are breaking up in today's times.
One day, problems arise in Sangeeta's family. Sangeeta and her husband Anand have to move out of their ancestral home and start life anew. This comes as a jolt to Ramkishenji's family. Ramkishenji's wife, Mamta, feels pained for her daughter and starts worrying about the future of her sons. There are talks of separating the boys. But Ramkishenji's ideals prevail. The sons and the daughter-in-laws stand united in their moment of crisis. Finally, Sangeeta and Anand are happily re-united with their family. The sons and daughter-in-laws of Ramkishenji prove that "the family that prays together, eats together... stays together.
The film is about how in today's time a joint family can still live together happily. The film has lot of songs on different occasions. The film is clourful with production values being very high. The script is not so powerful with focus being on the saying "the family that prays together, stays together…" songs and functions.
The art direction is good with lavish sets of houses but on few occasions the backdrop is not cleverly made as it can be made out it is unreal. Direction of Sooraj Barjatya is good but one feels he should have refrained from so many songs but that is the hallmark of Rajshri Productions, isn't it? The songs are melodious but the film misses on a chartbuster song like 'Didi Tera Dewar Deewana' in HAHK. If one asked who steals the show in the film than he is in for a surprise, for its Saif Ali Khan & Karisma Kapoor who draw most of the attention. Saif has performed marvelously well in comedy scenes. Salman Khan is subdued as is his character in the film. Tabu & Mohnish Bahl have given good performances. Rest of the cast has performed admirably.
The film will draw family crowd to the theatres, that's for sure but will it be able to break 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' Box Office records - well, It is too premature to comment on that!
